JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE                        :   THEATRE ATTENDANT

DEPARTMENT                   :   CLINICAL SERVICES

REPORTS TO                     :   NURSE IN CHARGE

JOB SUMMARY      

Promote efficiency in meeting the needs of the patients in operating theatres in all aspects. Participate in support services in the operating theatres. The post holder is expected to have safe practice and always ensure safe environment for patients and other staff.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Wheeling patients to and from Theatre and Wards

·       Assisting in positioning patients before, during and after surgery

·       Assisting other theatre staff during emergencies and when there is a shortage of staff

·       Thorough cleaning of department and all items and equipment used in theatre

·       Running errands for the department

·       Folding, packing and sterilizing clean linen and swabs

·       Checking, cleaning, assembling and lubricating all theatre instruments and equipment

·       Maintaining the correct instrument count from the operating rooms

·       Deliver messages / items in an accurate and timely manner

·       Work under effectively & efficiently under pressure

KEY QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       Equivalent of a Diploma in relevant field

·       Minimum of one and half years’ hospital experience.

·       Excellent interpersonal, communication & customer care skills.

·       Good observational skills
