JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE                        :   STAFF NURSE

DEPARTMENT                   :   CLINICAL SERVICES

REPORTS TO                     :   HEAD OF NURSING

JOB SUMMARY      

Plan, coordinate and provide nursing care, emotional support and education to patients and their families.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care to patients on their individual needs

·       Ensure patients nursing needs such as physical, psychological, and mental are attended to.

·       To provide individually tailored care to patients

·       To assist patients, perform their ordinary daily activities.

·       Monitor record and report changes in patient’s symptoms.

·       Maintain accurate reports on patients.

·       Assess the needs of patients and plan for nursing care.

·       Admit and discharge patients.

·       Participate in ward rounds with medical and nursing personnel.

·       Assist medical staff in examination and treatment of patients

·       Assist in clinical investigations procedures.

·       Maintain safe and clean working environment by adhering to set standards and procedures

·       Give instructions to patients and their families on various topics pertaining to health of the patient.

·       Ensure that patients discharged from the wards take with the prescribed drugs and discharge summary and follow up on any scheduled appointments.

·       You shall Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required

KEY QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       RCHN /RN/BSN or its equivalent

·       Diploma in Advanced Nursing

·       Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)

·       Minimum of 1 years post qualification experience

·       Valid practicing License.

·       Excellent interpersonal, communication & customer care skills.

·       Good observational skills

·       Ability to remain calm in emergency situations

·       Ability to work under pressure

·       Kind and compassionate

·       Keen listener

·       Team Player
