JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE                                 :   SONOGRAPHER

DEPARTMENT                          :   RADIOLOGY

REPORTS TO                            :   HRADIOLOGY MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY      

Responsible for providing quality ultrasound services to the hospital patients, reviewing, and analysing reports and producing the same for Radiologist review

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Responsible for preparing the ultrasound equipment before patient examinations.

·         Perform ultrasound examinations a prescribed by a medical practitioner.

·         Printing of patient ultrasound images and reports.

·         Provide emergency ultrasound services during and after office hours.

·         Ensures that high standards of diagnostic accuracy, reporting and documentation are maintained.

·         Advise doctors and consultants regarding appropriate ultrasound imaging protocols useful in different circumstances.

·         Ensures that examinations are carried out in consistency with the procedure protocols, patient conditions, physical abilities and age requirements.

·         Liaise with radiology assistants regarding radiological findings to create a work environment that encourages team spirit and high quality work standards

KEY QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·         Higher Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences (Ultrasound Option) from a recognized institution

·         Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography from a recognized institution

·         Three years working experience, one of which should be as a Sonographer

·         Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail

·         Valid Practicing license from Radiation Protection Body.

·         Proficiency in computer applications
