JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE                        :   RESIDENT MEDICAL OFFICER

DEPARTMENT                   :   CLINICAL SERVICES

REPORTS TO                     :   CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

JOB SUMMARY      

Responsible for monitoring and providing appropriate clinical care (medical, critical care and surgical) to patients in Hospital wards inclusive of ICU/HDU and Renal Unit, Accident and Emergency and in Outpatient department

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Initial management, stabilization, and treatment of all patients.

·       Rotating in various wards and clinics as assigned

·       Facilitating patient admission and discharge.

·       Ensuring patient referral to appropriate specialist.

·       Facilitating customer complaint handling, root cause analysis and problem solving.

·       Championing evidence-based practice, patient centred care, service excellence and continual improvement.

·       Maintaining patient confidentiality and working with professionalism.

·       Undertaking clinical procedures.

·       Undertaking staff clinic duties and ambulance duties.

·       Participating in major disaster response.

·       Facilitating Continuous Medical Education sessions and research   .

·       Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time

·       Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

KEY QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from a recognized institution 

·       Completed one (1) year internship.

·       One-year work experience post internship.

·       BLS & ACLS qualifications from an accredited Training institution

·       Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.

·       Ability to work effectively in a team.

·       Sound diagnostic skills and judgment.

·       Registration Certificate by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

·       Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
