JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE                        :   RADIOLOGY NURSE

DEPARTMENT                   :   CLINICAL SERVICES

REPORTS TO                     :   HEAD OF NURSING

JOB SUMMARY      

Routinely start or check peripheral IVS, assess infusaports, administer medications, monitor vital signs, suction patients, insert foleys and help patients with their personal needs

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Assist in Radiology procedures e.g. Biopsy, MRIs under sedation

·       Orientation and supervision of new staff and students.

·       Ensure proper coordination and smooth running of the radiology department.

·       Ensure good communication with patients and other departments for continuity of patient care

·       Maintain safe and clean working environment by adhering to set standards and procedures

·       Ensure that patients discharged from the radiology section take with them the prescribed drugs and reports and referrals.

·       You shall Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required

·       Monitor record and report changes in patient’s symptoms.

·       Maintain accurate reports on patients.

·       Assess the needs of patients and plan for nursing care.

·       Plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care to patients on their individual needs

·       Ensure patients nursing needs such as physical, psychological and mental needs are attended to

·       To provide individually tailored care to patients

KEY QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       RCHN /RN/BSN or its equivalent

·       Diploma in Advanced Nursing is an added advantage

·       Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)

·       Minimum of 1 years post qualification experience

·       Valid practicing License.

·       Excellent interpersonal, communication & customer care skills.

·       Good observational skills

·       Ability to work under pressure
