JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE : PAYABLES ACCOUNTANT
DEPARTMENT : FINANCE
REPORTS TO : HEAD OF FINANCE
JOB SUMMARY
This job will entail timely and accurate processing and payment of all supplier and doctors’ invoices, ensuring proper posting of supplier invoices & doctor’s invoices, petty cash vouchers, advances payments and supplier account reconciliation and ensure proper filling of all supplier documentation.
This position will also provide support to other finance team functions covering reconciliations and monthly reconciliation of allocated general ledger accounts. The position will be required to deal with a high volume of transactions with speed and accuracy being paramount.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensure all payments and approval protocols follow the finance policy.
· Review all daily payments ensuring the accuracy and validity of such payments.
· Ensure accurate and timely entry of invoices (including staff claims, petty cash Vouchers and any advances) and credit notes to the Accounts Payable ledger.
· Ensure the reconciliation of Accounts Payable ledger with the General Ledger control account.
· Liaising with suppliers to obtain outstanding invoices and ensuring that they are authorized and paid in a timely manner.
· Explain monthly financial reports and transactions as requested relating to the accounts payable function.
· Work closely with Purchasing and supplies department to ensure that the hospital does not run out of supplies because of non-payment.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
· Professional qualifications in ACCA, CIFA, CPA or any other recognized professional accounting qualification.
· Five years working experience, with two years as a Payable Accountant.
· Doctors’ payables accounting experience at a busy and fast paced Hospital will be an added advantage.
· Membership with certified Accounting body

· Good understanding of IFRS and statutory financial accounting and reporting
· Ability to plan effectively.

· Ability to communicate effectively.
· Ability to report accurately and timely.
· Conversant with accounting packages and accounting software
· Attention to details.
· Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize.
· Strong work ethics
