JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE                                 :   MIDWIFERY NURSE

DEPARTMENT                          :   CLINICAL SERVICES

REPORTS TO                            :   HEAD OF NURSING

JOB SUMMARY      

Responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of professional quality nursing care by providing advice, care and support for women and their babies during pregnancy, labour, delivery, and early postnatal period

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Assessment and admission of patients in maternity to identify their clinical needs and provide holistic nursing care.

·         Planning patient care guided by the nursing process as per the patient needs.

·         Providing maternal and child health services such as delivery and postnatal care for both normal and caesarian section deliveries.

·         Identification and management of obstetric emergencies.

·         Monitoring mothers in labor and maintaining a pantograph.

·         Immunization according to approved vaccines

·         Mentorship and supervision of nursing students on clinical rotation at maternity department.

·         Proper and timely documentation.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·         RCHN /RN/BSN or its equivalent

·         Must have higher Diploma in RM

·         Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)

·         Minimum of 3 years working experience in Midwifery.

·         Valid practicing License.

·         Excellent interpersonal, communication & customer care skills.

·         Good observational skills

·         Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
